It's not like if he didn't know she was a murderous, manipulative, two-timer before. There's nothing new about Katherine he discovers post-s2e1 except the singular fact that ... she does not love him. And then it's like a switch goes off (pun unintended) where his emotions for Katherine are concerned. (Which is why the whole body-swap thing was such an anti-climax.).
